In July 2011 Mike Darlington and Ari Paunonen launched Monstercat as a YouTube channel. ![]() A new sampler is released about every 40 songs or every three to four months. In addition, on Wednesdays appears podcast on. The label releases new songs every Monday and Thursday (Monstercat: Uncaged) and every Tuesday and Friday (Monstercat: Instinct). ![]() The main business of the label, however, is the different samplers. The artists' publications appear on their own website, iTunes, Xbox Music, Spotify, Deezer, SoundCloud, Bandcamp, Google Play Music, Apple Music and Beatport, among others. Bootleging and unauthorized remixing are no problem for the label. Instead, encourage people to share and remix music. Together with the compilation Monstercat 018 - Frontier (August 6, 2014) the “Monstercat Manifesto” was published in which the label declares that they consider the old copyrights to be antiquated and outdated. The artist retains complete control over the copyright and may offer the published songs to other labels. It mostly brings out digital publications and is increasingly focused on streaming music. Monstercat is not a classical music label.
